The majority of young people in Australia that I know do not explicitly talk about their faith. However, many would believe in a set of principles which guide how they live their lives.

Young people in Western countries are often described in the media as Generation Y, the “Me Generation”, interested in consumerism and selfish pursuits. My experiences are very much the opposite.

I see young people who are passionate about making a difference in the world, acting on issues of the environment, climate change, poverty and injustice, at the same time as seeking to secure their own futures. As a result faith, “having something to believe in”, is becoming more important to them.
